East Asian Literature Workshop

The workshop begins July 9, and continues each Friday and Saturday for three weeks. Mornings, history professors lead lectures and discussions on specific facets of China, Japan, and Korea that are pertinent to the literary works covered.
Afternoons, literature professors discuss the short stories, novels, and poetry that participants have read prior to arrival at the workshop, focusing on universal as well as culture-specific aspects of the works.

At the end of each day, a high school world literature teacher with experience teaching East Asian literature
leads strategy sessions on how to teach the works at the high school level.

Participants will also be able to access cultural resources such as films in the evenings.
