This book group for K-8 teachers considers picture books set in Japan and the Korean peninsula to integrate English language arts, social studies, and science instruction in the K-8 classroom. Explore the changing relationships between Japanese and Korean people and their environments, including topics such as bio-diversity, climate, astronomy, festivals, cultural diffusion, and legacies of war.
Admission is selective, and priority will be given to teachers who can incorporate the books into their classroom teaching. Participants are responsible for acquiring the books in advance of the book group start date. Enrollment is limited to 25 teachers; applications close January 11, 2024, or when full.
