In this workshop we will explore geostrategic forecasting, learning how to bring geography and politics together to examine East Asia. We begin by discussing the five themes of geography: location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and regions to examine their relevance in both geography and non-geography courses. Next, we examine how to apply the five themes in various Asian countries and in subnational contexts. Finally, we use our results to examine where challenges are likely to exist and discuss the strategies those countries should adopt to mitigate the challenges. We will work together in small groups to develop a strategic forecast for several different Asian countries in an activity you can easily incorporate into your own classes!
Registration opens late fall.
