|End Date:||June 7, 2021|
|Type of Course:||Book Groups|

|Course Description:||The Reading Contemporary Beijing Lives course will do a close reading of selected stories from the column Beijing Lights, by Huang Chenkuang, published between 2019 and 2021 online by the Beijing-based literary arts collective Spittoon. Each story gives voice to a Beijing resident, including many marginalized citizens. Participating teachers will gain insight into the social, historical and cultural forces influencing the young and not-so-young as they go about their daily lives in the Chinese capital.|
