Join Professor Morris Rossabi for a discussion on Xinjiang. China's westernmost province, Xinjiang, borders today eight countries in addition to being close to both Pakistan and India. It has been China's “window to the west” into Eurasia since earliest times…long before the ocean navigation offered significant contact with other cultures and civilizations. In recent decades, Xinjiang has come into news reports on China because of China's policy toward the Muslim Uyghur (pronounced “Wee-gurr”) who reside there. The context and current developments merit exploration and discussion.
