Audience: This program is designed for current teachers of grades 5 – 8. Teachers of grades 4 and 9 are welcome to apply as well, but lesson plans and materials provided in the seminar might not apply to their specific grade.
Course Description: Offered by the East Asia Resource Center in conjunction with the Seattle Asian Art Museum’s Gardner Center for Asian Art and Ideas. This series is titled “Silk Roads Past and Present: Ancient Afghan Treasure to China’s Belt & Road Initiative“. The workshop Write About Asia will be offered following each public lecture lecture and facilitated by Mary Roberts.
Educators will attend the public lecture from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and then meet for a writing workshop from 11:30 a.m – 2:00 p.m. During the workshop, time will be given to solitary writing in response to the morning lecture. The workshop will nurture educators as writers through self-reflection and group discussion.
