Sijo Workshop: Comparing Korean Poetry with Chinese and Japanese Verse

Course Description: This workshop will introduce K-12 educators to Korean sijo, Chinese jueju, and Japanese haiku, with attention to thematic and stylistic similarities and differences among the three forms. It will also include a sijo composition session, as well as strategies for teaching East Asian poetry. The workshop will be followed by a Korean Performing Arts Concert.

Applications accepted online at  https://easc.indiana.edu/machform/view.php?id=15791. Participants will be required to pay a $40 non-refundable registration fee upon acceptance to the workshop.

Deadline: August 23, 2019. Participation limited to 25, with preference given to full-time teachers in Indiana.
