Course Description: The morning session focuses on how to teach young people to write Japanese verse forms: haiku, renga (collaborative linked verse), and waka. In the afternoon the author of The Last Cherry Blossom, Kathleen Burkinshaw, will read her books and share personal pictures of her mother's family, home, and when they honored her mother at the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for Atomic Bomb Victims. We will also have a planting ceremony of an atomic-bomb-survived tree sapling from Hiroshima at UNC Wilmington campus and pray for world peace.
