Course Description: Dr. Chen will discuss China’s recent social changes generated by its rapid economic growth, E-commerce and transportation-centered infrastructure building. It will also focus on China’s political problems and its issues in the US-China relationship.

Prof. Sun will give a brief introduction of Chinese philosophy about teaching and learning, followed by an overview and a discussion of the current K-12 education system in China. A specific focus on the challenges and successes in designing curriculum, exploring new educational models, and addressing equity issues will be also discussed. The North Carolina educators who participated in the World View study tour to China this summer will present their experiences and learnings in the afternoon. In addition, the resource on teaching about East Asia will be provided to the teachers.
